08/26/2010 - New Haven, CT (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Caroline Wozniacki clinched the U.S. Open Series points title on Thursday without event lifting her racquet at the $600,000 Pilot Pen Tennis event, a final hardcourt U.S. Open tune-up.

The top-seeded Wozniacki was scheduled to meet seventh-seeded Flavia Pennetta here on Thursday night, but the Italian pulled out of the quarterfinal match, citing a right foot injury, thus giving the Dane a walkover into Friday's semifinals.

By reaching the semis, Wozniacki clinched the U.S. Open Series, which means she can earn an extra $1 million should she capture the U.S. Open title in two weeks.

Wozniacki is the two-time reigning New Haven champ and fresh off a title in Montreal on Monday. She'll be the top seed at the U.S. Open, which will start Monday in New York.

The world No. 2 Wozniacki's semifinal opponent will be tough Russian Elena Dementieva.

The former U.S. Open runner-up Dementieva held off sixth-seeded former Wimbledon runner-up Marion Bartoli of France 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in three hours on Thursday. The long, sloppy match featured 19 double faults, including 12 by Bartoli, and 12 service breaks, seven of which came against the Frenchwoman.

Meanwhile, eighth-seeded Russian Nadia Petrova waxed this week's second seed, French Open runner-up Samantha Stosur of Australia, 6-2, 6-1, in a mere 53 minutes at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale.

Russian glamour girl Maria Kirilenko leveled fellow Russian Dinara Safina 6-3, 6-3 in 1 hour, 28 minutes on Day 5. The former world No. 1 and three-time major runner-up Safina has been unable to locate her game this year since returning from back problems.

Kirilenko will face Petrova in the final four on Friday.

The 2010 Pilot Pen champion will collect $98,500.
